According to local media outlet The Khmer Times, the meeting was led by CGMC secretary general Yeth Vinel. Attendees reportedly discussed plans aimed at improving inspection standards and strengthening management of licensed gaming professionals.

In Cambodia, certain casino staff, including dealers and pit supervisors, are classified as special employees under the country’s Law on the Management of Commercial Gambling. That designation has been noted in memos from legal practice Rajah & Tann Asia, which were seen by GGRAsia.

The regulator’s latest discussion follows earlier remarks from CGMC chairman Aun Pornmoniroth, who recently called for government departments to carry out comprehensive reviews of casinos across the country. He made those comments at a seminar on combating online fraud, where he said the reviews should assess licensing status.

Pornmoniroth, who is also Cambodia’s deputy prime minister and minister of economy and finance, warned at the same event that casinos found to be involved in online fraud or other illegal activities could face licence revocation. His comments placed the casino sector directly within the government’s wider anti-fraud campaign.
