Stephon Castle’s this instant comeback to a hairline comment is pure gold

The Oklahoma City Thunder pulled off a convincing 123-108 victory against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals on Friday. This win puts the Thunder ahead 2-1 in the series.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way, dropping 26 points and 12 assists, while OKC’s bench completely outmatched San Antonio’s reserves by a score of 76-23. This impressive run sets a franchise playoff record for bench production.

Falling behind in the series poses a serious threat to the Spurs, but what Richard Jefferson told Stephon Castle this week introduced a different type of concern to the second-year guard. However, his instant comeback against Jefferson was pure comedy gold.

Richard Jefferson’s hair warning leaves Stephon Castle completely stunned for a split second

Castle was the guest in a recent episode of «The Richard Show.» Jefferson, now 45 and notably bald, opened this conversation by complimenting Castle’s locks and then immediately turned it into a warning with a brutal hairline joke.

The ESPN analyst jokingly warned Castle that he «used to have hair like yours» before he started losing his hair at age 22. Castle playfully responded, «No, don’t wish that on me,» making the «dread» a literal joke about losing his long hair.

Richard Jefferson: «I used to have hair like yours. How old are you?»

Stephon Castle: «21.»

Jefferson: «I started losing my hair at 22.»

Castle: «No. Don’t wish that on me.» 😂

Castle’s signature dreadlocks and high-top fade are a big part of his identity. Earlier this season, when Victor Wembanyama and Keldon Johnson both shaved their heads, they reportedly attempted to recruit teammates to follow suit.

He made it clear they never even bothered asking him, saying, «They knew not to ask me. It’s not going to happen.»

But his hair became a flashpoint during Game 2. Right after Castle threw down a vicious put-back dunk over Isaiah Hartenstein, the OKC big man grabbed Castle by his dreadlocks on the next play. The referees missed the call. Spurs fans went furious online as no foul was given.

Castle finished Friday’s loss with 14 points and seven assists, finishing the game with five fouls. The entire roster struggled once OKC’s bench took over. Victor Wembanyama led San Antonio with 26 points but said postgame that he needs to play more of a team game. Devin Vassell added 20 points in the loss.

Game 4 tips off Sunday at 8:00 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock. Despite trailing in the series, the Spurs are favored at home. They already proved they can win in this matchup by taking Game 1 in double overtime on the Thunder’s home floor, following their six-game series win against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
