Houston’s season starts with an away matchup at the Shreveport Mudbugs on both Sept. 11 and Sept. 12. The Bulls’ home opener will be against the Lone Star Brahmas on Friday, Oct. 2 followed by another game against Lone Star at the Deep South Ice Sports Plex in Richmond, Texas on Saturday, Oct. 3. November features a mid-week game hosting the Shreveport Mudbugs on Nov. 25.
The NAHL announced back in March that they would be relocating the North Iowa Bulls to the Texas city to compete as the Houston Bulls. Former NHLer Nathan Oystrick — who spent time with the St. Louis Blues (2010-11) and Anaheim Ducks (2009-10) — was announced as Head Coach.
In an exclusive, Oystrick said he’s happy with the inaugural schedule.
«The schedule looks good,» Oystrick said. «We’re excited. It’s going to be a very competitive division. I know the South likes to play a big-boy brand of hockey, which is exciting for me and for our players. I had a chance to talk to a lot of the players this past weekend in Lincoln at the Stars camp, and they’re all excited for Houston, and they’re all excited to be in a new division and see what it’s all about.»

January and March both promise to be busy for the Bulls — with games scheduled every Friday and Saturday. Jan. also features three weekends at home (weekends of Jan. 1, Jan. 8 and Jan. 22).
Oystrick also said the significance of the home opener on Oct. 2 is not to be overlooked against the Lone Star Brahmas.
«October 2nd should be great. It’ll be against one of our in-state rivals. It’ll be an opportunity for fans to come to the arena and see us in person. I’m sure the organization will have a lot of things planned for that night. I know our guys will be extremely excited and it’ll be our first home game against a really good opponent,» Oystrick said.

The Deep South Ice & Sports Plex has construction coming along nicely and will be completed with 1,800 seats and 14 suites in addition to a second NHL size practice ice sheet.
Current season ticket sales interest remains at over 3,000 for the Bulls’ inaugural season.
The last scheduled matchup for the regular NAHL season will be at the Oklahoma Warriors on April 10, 2027. Semifinals for the Robertson Cup began on April 17 in 2026.
«I’m super excited to have our first opportunity to see our team in full and to get out in the new division and see what we’re made of,» Oystrick said. «We expect to be ready to go.»
