Led by head coach Carlo Ancelotti, known affectionately as «Don Carlo,» Brazil are hoping to return themselves to the summit of global football. The Selecao have won five World Cup titles, more than any other nation, but have not triumphed since 2002 as they struggle through their longest drought in national-team history.
They will have a difficult early test taking on seventh-ranked Morocco, who are coming off an appearance in the latest Africa Cup of Nations final and have grown into a full-fledged soccer powerhouse.
The Sporting News brings you a look at the projected starting lineups for both teams, as well as an overview of their World Cup squads, plus odds, predictions, and how to watch the game.

- Prediction: Brazil 1-2 Morocco
Brazil do not have the same star-studded cast that they previously boasted during their hay day, and it shows on the pitch. Ancelotti’s influence on the side has been positive, but they still do not have the depth of talent to take them to the heights of their peak.
That will be on full display here as they play an exceptionally strong Morocco team that has deserved its top-10 ranking, an impressive mark for an African nation. In fact, Morocco beat Brazil 2-1 last time they squared off in a friendly back in 2023, with Abdelhamid Sabiri scoring the winner in the 79th minute.
Coming off a second consecutive Champions League title with PSG, Hakimi has a great chance to lead the Atlas Lions in an early World Cup upset.
