Trai Fuller makes future call amid heavy rival interest
Trai Fuller has reaffirmed his commitment to the Dolphins, with the fan favourite fullback re-signing with the club through until the end of the 2027 season.

The extension comes despite Fuller attracting significant interest from rival clubs both in Australia and overseas as he searched for greater first-grade opportunities.
The 29-year-old had been linked heavily with the St George Illawarra Dragons earlier this year before the club ultimately turned its attention towards North Queensland Cowboys star Scott Drinkwater.
Fuller is understood to have knocked back the Dragons, despite the opportunity for a clearer pathway to a starting fullback role.

Interest had also emerged from Super League clubs as well as the incoming Perth Bears, underlining the demand for the electric fullback despite his limited opportunities at Redcliffe.
Instead, Fuller has opted to remain loyal to the Dolphins, where he has become one of the club’s most popular players since arriving on a train-and-trial contract ahead of the 2023 season.

The late-blooming fullback has gone on to play 19 NRL games while also representing both the Prime Minister’s XIII and Indigenous All Stars.
Injuries and the presence of Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow have restricted Fuller’s opportunities at times, but the Dolphins see enormous value in retaining one of the competition’s best depth options.
Fuller’s decision is another sign of the culture being built at the Dolphins, with the veteran outside back electing stability and loyalty over chasing a guaranteed starting role elsewhere.
While he will again be free to negotiate with rivals from November 1 for the 2028 season, the Dolphins have now secured arguably the best backup fullback in the NRL for at least another year.
