Spurs vs. Knicks final score, results: Victor Wembanyama quiets New York crowd, cuts series deficit to 2-1

The stars were aligning — literally and figuratively — at Madison Square Garden for the Knicks on Monday night. But Victor Wembanyama, after some vocal disappointment on his start to the 2026 NBA Finals, played spoiler on basketball’s biggest stage.

The Spurs got the win they needed in Game 3, with the road team claiming each of the first three games of the Finals and San Antonio now trailing the series 2-1 following a 115-111 victory on Monday. Wembanyama was excellent, showing the aggressiveness from tip-off that he lacked in Games 1 and 2, to finish with 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists, three blocks and two steals.

On a night where celebrity row was loaded with big names, President Donald Trump was in attendance and Knicks fans were ready to explode, hoping to take a commanding 3-0 series lead in pursuit of a long-awaited title, the Spurs held on in another back-and-forth contest for the victory they desperately needed. Even beyond Wembanyama’s all-around night, Stephon Castle complemented his red-hot first half with a huge 3-pointer and free throws late in the fourth quarter — and Jalen Brunson’s fourth-quarter heroics couldn’t quite lift New York this time.

With the Knicks’ playoff win streak now over, these Finals are looking a bit different. A Spurs win in Game 4 would make it a best-of-three for the championship, but New York can still move to the brink of a title by bouncing back Wednesday.

11:30 p.m. — These NBA Finals just got a bit more interesting. The Spurs disappoint the home crowd in New York City, making it three-straight road wins to open this series and cutting their deficit to 2-1. Wembanyama was terrific with 32 points and six assists, while Stephon Castle came up huge in the fourth quarter.

Despite the Knicks’ trio of Brunson, Anunoby and Hart clicking, they lose their first playoff game since April.

11:19 p.m. — Brunson downs a jumper to cut the lead to four, but Stephon Castle comes up huge on the other end, connecting on a 3-pointer. San Antonio is in control with time ticking away.
