Victor Wembanyama’s aggression flip changes everything after one fiery locker room talk revealed following Game 2 loss

Victor Wembanyama is in the third season of his NBA career with the San Antonio Spurs and is currently experiencing his first playoff appearance. Expectations were high for a potential breakthrough in Game 2 of the NBA Finals, but a costly pass from Wembanyama ultimately led to the New York Knicks scoring the decisive points.

Despite the late mistake, the Spurs, including guard De’Aaron Fox, continued to show confidence in Wembanyama. In his post-game conference, Fox spoke on how Wembanyama’s more assertive approach after halftime helped fuel their comeback attempt.

“We came in, we were like, we need you to be aggressive,” Fox said. “That is what it is. He came out in the second and was much better for us. That was the reason that we were able to get back in the game. … Whenever he’s aggressive, we’re at our best.”

Trailing 97-83 with six minutes remaining, Wembanyama delivered an emotional huddle speech before taking control of the game. He sparked a 14-0 Spurs run that tied the contest, scoring 10 of his 22 second-half points in the final quarter alone.

However, the game unravelled for Wembanyama in the final 30 seconds, as after forcing a crucial miss from Jalen Brunson with the score tied, Wembanyama secured the rebound and looked to push the tempo. He attempted an outlet pass that unintentionally struck teammate Stephon Castle, leading to a live-ball turnover. Brunson drew a foul and converted the go-ahead free throw.

With one final opportunity to win the game, Wembanyama attempted a mid-range jumper from about 20 feet. However, the shot missed as the buzzer sounded, and the Spurs are now 0-2 in the series.

The Spurs now head to New York trailing in the series, and they know that no NBA team has recovered from losing the first two Finals games at home to go on and win the championship.
