Alberta Casino Operator Moves Toward Online Platform Before iGaming Launch
Pure Canadian Gaming is preparing to enter Alberta’s new online gambling market with its own platform, stepping ahead of the province’s planned iGaming launch. The Alberta-based company said it has applied to bring a smartphone app and website into the market as competition builds among licensed operators.

Local Operator Positions Itself
The company operates 7 casinos across Alberta and has been in business for more than 25 years. It also has 2 locations in Edmonton. In a Friday news release, it said its new platform would provide a distinctly Albertan choice in a market that is expected to attract many large multinational companies.
Pure Canadian Gaming said those larger companies are already flooding the province with celebrity-endorsed advertising. By contrast, the company is presenting its own offering as locally grounded and tied to the province’s economy and workforce.
The company said its entry would help keep revenues in Canada while supporting local employment and investment. It also said it currently employs around 1,500 people in the province.
Trust Over Advertising
President and chief executive Brad Belhouse said the company cannot outspend the multinationals on Super Bowl ads, but can compete on trust and commitment to Alberta. He said Pure Canadian Gaming was in Alberta before the larger companies arrived and will remain there long after the market settles.
His comments framed the company’s move as a local response to a market that is about to open to much larger competitors. Rather than focusing on scale, the company is leaning on its Alberta presence and existing casino operations.
That message also reflects the company’s effort to differentiate itself at a time when the province is preparing to regulate a broader iGaming market. The new platform would extend its existing presence into the online space.

Wide Field Of Applicants
More than 48 different platforms have applied to be part of the market, which Alberta has been setting up over the year. The list includes major names in online gambling such as BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, and bet365.
Pure Canadian Gaming’s application places it among a crowded field as the province moves closer to launch. The company’s pitch is that a local operator can compete on familiarity and public trust rather than on national advertising budgets.
The broader market framework is still taking shape, but the number of applicants indicates strong interest from both domestic and international operators. The Alberta market is expected to be highly competitive once it opens.
Rules And Market Goals
Service Alberta Minister Dale Nally has said the market is expected to generate around $76 million for the province in its first year. He has also said the goal of launching a regulated iGaming market is to protect players from the unregulated grey market.
Alongside the market, Alberta has introduced rules and protections. Operators are allowed to use sports celebrities in advertising only when the message is meant to encourage responsible gambling. The province will also offer centralized exclusion, allowing players to opt out of all iGaming options.
Those measures show that Alberta is pairing expansion with controls as it prepares for regulated online gambling. Pure Canadian Gaming’s application now adds a local brand to a market that is drawing major national and international players.
