‘Nowhere near good enough’: Grella delivers final smackdown on Socceroos after Egypt loss
As if losing to Egypt on penalties wasn’t enough.
In the aftermath of Australia’s heartbreaking World Cup elimination at the hands of Mo Salah and Co in Dallas, the Socceroos’ public enemy No.1 Mike Grella has taken the opportunity to sink the boot in one final time.

Speaking on CBS Sports Golazo after the Round of 32 match, the American pundit and former player could barely contain his ‘I told you so’ delight after dismissing Australia’s chances of doing anything at the start of the tournament — including even getting out of Group D.
«In football and in life you can talk,» Grella began in an epic monologue that may yet provide huge motivation for future generations of Australian footballers.

«But in the end the whistle blows and you go on the scale … what’s your worth?» he continued.
«For Australia, I understand they have an unbelievable spirit, I understand they love sport, I understand they have pride whent hey talk about their football team, the Socceroos.

«Where’s the players? Where’s the quality? You don’t have it» says Grella
As his fellow CBS panellists watched on with somewhat uncomfortable smiles, Grella was only just getting started.
«Australia wanted to accomplish something in the World Cup with their emotions and in their own head — but in reality they were nowhere near good enough with the football,» he declared.
«Did they fight? Yes. Did they do their country proud? 100 per cent. But at the end you need to learn how to play with the football… and they don’t have the high level with the football.»
