Thanks for joining us Chris – please could you briefly introduce yourself to our readers, and talk us through your experience leading up to your current role at Casino.org?
Thanks for inviting me along. I’ve been in the iGaming space for 15 years now, which has included various stints across the sector working for leading operators, start-ups and affiliate sites. Before then, I actually started out as a semi-professional poker player, until PokerStars reached out to me to request my support with developing a program for their VIP players.I like to think I’ve really seen the sector from all angles, both as a seasoned player and an industry expert, soI really feel that I understand what truly matters to players around the world today.
I joined the team at Casino.org back in 2024 as a Content Manager and have written countless casino reviews for the site since then, with the aim of supporting our readers to make informed decisions about where to play. Working together with our team of experts has been a fantastic opportunity to share my insights into the industry on a larger scale. It’s really important to me that players can easily find all the information they need, so my job is to keep my finger on the pulse and deliver that knowledge to our readers in a straightforward way.
From your perspective over at Casino.org, what are some of the most impactful trends shaping the global iGaming industry right now?
Whilst I’m typically focused on the North American online casino market, I’m always careful to keep up with the wider trends in the iGaming industry on a global scale. Right now, I think there are some fascinating developments on display, and a few different patterns converging at once. The impact of the rise of mobile gaming really can’t be understated, in my opinion. In the 15 years I’ve spent in this sector, that strikes me as the most impactful and game-changing trend we’ve seen in that time, both for players and operators alike. The convenience, pace and accessibility of mobile casino games has transformed the very nature of iGaming.
Today’s players are looking for immediacy and total immersion, and interestingly they’re also beginning to seek out more social and competitive styles of play. I think social media and streaming culture are having a massive impact, as it means people are enjoying those more immersive, live-action formats. Since I started out playing poker online, the world of online casinos has changed from being quite a niche and solitary activity, and has become this really varied, fast-paced and exhilarating experience. Players are also far more informed than they were fifteen years ago, and their expectations are much higher. They know that if an operator fails to deliver, then they can easily move elsewhere.
Since Ontario opened its doors to private operators in 2022, there’s been a lot of talk about the Canadian online casino scene – what makes it stand out?
I think Ontario’s market is a really interesting one, which represents a lot of the key trends we’re seeing in the sector today. Regulatory changes are on the rise and we’re seeing increasing discussions around more permissive legislation regarding online casinos and sports betting sites. I think Ontario’s decision has been a key contributor to those conversations, as the remarkable success of its legal iGaming market has certainly got people talking. A recent survey found that 91% of Ontario players are now choosing to play at licensed online casino sites such as those listed in our Casino.org Canada guidance, which is an incredible achievement in just a few years. Ontario is definitely paving the way and showing how effective regulation can make an enormous difference.

As the industry evolves, which emerging sectors and trends should players look out for – and how can they get the most from their experience?
It’s clear that personalization is going to be the defining trend of the next few years. We’re already seeing the huge influence of AI technology in the iGaming space, and players are starting to expect an experience that’s uniquely tailored to their own preferences and playing styles. Operators will need to ensure that these technologies are being used responsibly of course, particularly when it comes to player protection, but overall, I think the possibilities of AI are so exciting. Players should be looking out for sites that are pushing the boundaries and implementing these tools in really creative ways. Personalized promotions and bonus offers are also seriously worth looking out for, as these can help players to maximize their bankroll and get the most out of their experience.
With the global online gambling industry growing so quickly, do you have any final tips for our readers? How can they keep up with the trends and find the best options?
The online casino industry is growing so quickly around the world right now, and I really believe that accessing trusted sources of information and guidance has never been more important. In my experience over at Casino.org, players are coming to us for a much wider variety of reasons, whether that’s to assess payment methods, compare the latest bonuses and promotions, or to find out about regulatory developments and iGaming news updates as they happen. They like to stay informed and compare all the options, and that’s been a fantastic trend to witness in recent years.
With so many changes taking place, it’s understandably tricky to keep up with the trends – even for a seasoned expert like myself! It’s a full time job. That’s why I really recommend that players take the time to consult the guidance and do plenty of background research before they start playing. We’re here to support with that process, so it’s important to remember that there is plenty of really useful information out there. At Casino.org we’re committed to providing honest, transparent content and casino reviews, as well as breakdowns of the latest trends – giving players more time to enjoy the games they love.
