NBA legend Jack Sikma unveils what makes Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama unstoppable

Legends who played a certain position well know exactly when a certain rising star gets the privilege of joining them in the table of greats. Jack Sikma, the NBA legend and champion with the Seattle SuperSonics, knows that Victor Wembanyama is on his way in becoming one of the greatest big men of all time. He even unveiled a not-so-subtle reason for why the New York Knicks will have a hard time with him in the NBA Finals and why other teams will also have a hard time in the long run.

NBA legend Sikma drops huge ‘unstoppable’ praise for Spurs’ Wembanyama

Victor Wembanyama is not just changing the game. The Spurs superstar is actively the only person who can stretch the floor, show great emotional depth as a leader, play defense like no other in league history, and knock down buckets from all three levels of scoring. Clearly, the Knicks will have a lot on their plate once the NBA Finals roll around.

Jack Sikma has been observing how Wembanyama moves. The NBA legend with the 1979 championship-winning SuperSonics had big words about the Spurs superstar’s insane versatility on the court. He even hilariously described what made the Spurs superstar unstoppable, via John Hollinger of The Athletic.

«It’s amazing. The bigs grow up learning how to handle. Two dribbles was about my limit. The whole approach has changed as far as skill development. I was a farm boy that played Friday night for the high school team. Now the amount of time that’s spent, it’s so organized. It’s creating more skilled basketball players. You’ve got to be athletic, you’ve got to be able to move now. But being 7-5 helps,» the NBA legend said.

Sikma does have a huge point here. Wembanyama will likely have a very anomalous shot chart by the end of his career. The Spurs superstar screens and rebounds but also executes off the perimeter well which means that he can practically pull up from everywhere. Regardless of how others try to emulate Wembanyama, the fact that he is halfway through being eight feet will make him unstoppable.

So far, the Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Oklahoma City Thunder have tried. All of them failed to bring Wembanyama down. If all goes well, the Spurs superstar will not only surpass Sikma in the all-time rankings but he might even become the greatest player to have ever touch a basketball.
