Golden State Warriors
The Golden State Warriors have only a championship window if Stephen Curry plays to his full potential. It took a long while to convince the four-time champion to sign a contract extension, but he will be coming back, loyal as ever, to the organization that drafted him. Obviously, Coach Steve Kerr and Co. will implement some changes. Heck, their whole offensive philosophy will change too because their star will be 38 years old soon.

Warriors, Kerr to change philosophy for 2026-27 NBA season to accommodate Curry
Coach Steve Kerr knows a thing or two about longevity while operating at a highly competitive level. The Warriors head coach was able to win in various stages of his career. He did so early on with the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls and then later with the budding San Antonio Spurs dynasty. He plans to use the same fatigue and injury-management plan to keep Stephen Curry worry-free.
Curry, now entering his 18th season in the NBA, has not been the healthiest superstar. He suffered patellofemoral pain syndrome, which only allowed him to play 43 regular-season games, the third-least in all of his career. So, a shift in schemes and rotations was necessary to keep him on the court.
The Warriors star outlined that their new philosophy to keep him consistently playing was ‘less is more’, via Nick Friedell of The Athletic.
«The theme is less is more. That doesn’t mean you don’t work as hard. You just work different in the sense of how much you’re on your feet. … I did a lot of underwater treadmill stuff to keep my aerobic capacity but not have the pounding on my joints. So you’re just working differently, even though the volume of work was pretty much the same. And then in the tail end of the summer, you’re able to safely kind of ramp up,» Curry declared.

The Warriors’ performance clearly suffered after Curry was sidelined for the rest of the season. Coach Kerr saw his squad finish with a 37-win record, their worst since that 15-win season in 2019-20. That is why managing injuries and fatigue will be key to making the postseason.
The Warriors do have some semblance of depth on nights when Curry isn’t at a hundred percent. Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green can run Coach Kerr’s offense smoothly. Guys like L.J. Cryer, Brandin Podziemski, Gary Payton II, and Georges Niang are also all proven veterans.
This is obviously nowhere close to those same Warriors rosters that were overwhelming favorites to win the Larry O’Brien Trophy. However, the goal is to just find their identity while making the most of Curry’s two-year $116 million deal.
‘Less is more’ will definitely show what the Warriors can do on the court. But will it ensure that they can compete with an Oklahoma City Thunder squad out for revenge, a stacked Philadelphia 76ers squad, a repeat-aspiring New York Knicks roster, and an ambitious San Antonio Spurs core?
