Weather can pose a risk to any sports game played outdoors. For the vast majority of NFL teams, they play in stadiums without a roof.

For Week 2, four games will be subject to some precipitation along with some windy gusts. Rain and wind primarily affect a team’s passing offense. Running backs often prosper in games with faulty conditions, while pocket passers and kickers unfortunately get the blunt end of the sword.

From rain and wind to extreme heat, here’s a roundup of the matchups that could have weather playing a large role in their gameplay.

Steelers vs. Patriots weather

Location: Foxborough, Mass.

In Foxborough, the weather is set to look a bit gloomy. An overcast sky and precipitation percentages ranging from 70-74% from 1-3 p.m. will make their presence known for this Week 2 contest. Wind gusts will hover around seven MPH, which could impact long passing and kicking efforts.

Packers vs. Jets weather

Location: East Rutherford, N.J.

MetLife Stadium will host what appears to be another matchup impacted by rain and clouds. The turf may already be wet from a rain-filled morning in the Garden State, so a game dominated by the run is likely. Green Bay couldn’t move the chains when it came to the run last week, so the Jets could hold a slight advantage if weather conditions remain lackluster on Sunday afternoon. New York announced they will provide ponchos, so the team is also expecting some rain during their white-out game.

Vikings vs. Bears weather

Kickoff time: 1 pm ET
Location: Chicago, Ill.
High-low temperature: 68-59

The Windy City is set to live up to its name for the Vikings-Bears contest, and Chicago’s offense that rushed for 291 yards in Carolina last week could run it up again. Wind gusts of 17 MPH will be continuous throughout the afternoon, and there could be more opportunities for D’Andre Swift, Kyle Monangai, Aaron Jones, and Jordan Mason. Caleb Williams also poses a dual-threat risk, as seen by his 29-yard rushing TD last week.

Eagles vs. Titans weather

Kickoff time: 1 pm ET
Location: Nashville, Tenn.
High-low temperature: 98-74
Precipitation: 20-25%

Despite October rapidly approaching, the temperature at kickoff will be a staggering 95 degrees in Nashville. According to Adam Schefter, this contest is shaping up to be one of the hottest games in the Titans’ franchise history. Rain shouldn’t pose a risk, but there are double-digit wind gusts expected in the Volunteer State. A heat advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. tonight.
