Formula 1 has released its full schedule for the 2027 season and there are some major changes for several high-profile races including Australia.

In the first big change, Melbourne won’t be hosting the season opening race next year. 

Instead the 2027 F1 Australian Grand Prix will be the third race of the new season, with Bahrain and Saudi Arabia given the honour of kicking things off with back to-back races in mid-March.

That also means Melbourne has new dates with the 2027 race to be held from 2-4 April — that’s almost a month later than 2026 when the race was held on 6-8 March.

The changes don’t stop there either with F1 organisers awarding the Albert Park Circuit a Sprint Race for the very first time, as the Australian Grand Prix becomes one of a whopping ten Sprint weekends in 2027.

Monaco will also host its first Sprint race next year in a move which has drawn a huge amount of criticism from fans who suggest staging a Sprint on the notoriously tight and hard-to-pass Circuit de Monaco as nothing but a blatant money grab.

In total the 2027 F1 season will see 24 Grand Prix weekends held between 12 March and 12 December with the action starting (Bahrain) and finishing (Abu Dhabi) in the Middle East.
