The Warriors will then host the Knights at Eden Park on Sunday afternoon with the Panthers awaiting the winner in their Week 3 preliminary final.

There were a few suggestions injured halfback Sam Walker (ankle) might be named after returning to the training last week, but that hasn’t eventuated.

After missing last weekend with a rib injury Mawene Hiroti is named on the extended reserves and is a chance of replacing Riley Jones in the centres. Winger Ronaldo Mulitalo has a ligament injury in his right hand but will play while Jayden Berrell comes into the 19 for Hohepa Puru. Young centre Michael Gabrael is serving the second week of his two-match suspension.

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad stays on the wing with Adam Pompey holding his spot in the centres — for now at least. Jackson Ford (ankle) is out while Jacob Laban (knee) will play. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak (collarbone) has been included on the extended reserves and may well come into the 13 by game time forcing a late backline reshuffle. Luke Metcalf (hamstring) is still a week away.
