Now the Newcastle Knights have revealed fellow front rower Trey Mooney suffered a fractured scapula (shoulder blade) in the Round 26 loss to the Warriors and the 24-year-old will play no part in the upcoming finals series.
As widely expected the club also confirmed boom back rower Francis Manuleleua suffered a dislocated elbow in New Zealand, however the club remains hopeful he may yet be available for the finals.
“Scans have confirmed there are no fractures to the arm, with Manuleleua now undertaking an intensive rehabilitation program as he pushes to be available for our finals campaign,” it said in a statement.

It’s been a wretched run for the Knights forwards with Dylan Lucas ruled out for the season following a serious ankle injury in Round 21, while international hooker Phoenix Crossland is racing the clock to be fit for Week 1 of the finals after knee surgery.
Interchange second rower Brodie Jones has also missed several weeks with a hamstring issue.
In better news veteran Tyson Frizell will be available for Newcastle’s elimination final after serving a one-week suspension, as will England international winger Dom Young.
