Is there a World Cup game today? Full knockout stage schedule, TV channels for quarterfinals
With 48 teams in the expanded World Cup and two-thirds of them advancing to the knockout stage, there hasn’t been much of a chance for soccer fans to exhale since the tournament began.
96 of the World Cup’s 104 matches have been played in the span of less than a month, and the entertainment has been tremendous. From Argentina’s thrilling knockout wins to England’s drama-filled win over Mexico in Mexico City, games have remained compelling even as the field has thinned out.
There is still more to come, but will any of the remaining eight teams be on the pitch on Wednesday?
Here’s a look at the remaining schedule for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Is there a World Cup game today?
For the first time since the tournament began, there is no World Cup game scheduled for today.
It’s a rest day at the World Cup, with a one-day break between the Round of 16 and the quarterfinals. The tournament resumes on Thursday with a quarterfinal match between France and Morocco, four years after they met in the semifinals.

That game will be followed by another quarterfinal match on Friday and two on Saturday before an additional rest day on Sunday as the World Cup winds to a close.
