In the case of the bank, CAIXA Loterias managed to generate revenue totaling BRL 5.97 billion between January and March 2026. Total lottery revenue increased by 8.4% year-on-year but decreased by 30.7% compared to the fourth quarter of 2025.

Top Products in Quarter of Revenue Growth

As far as revenue generation, two products stood out during this period. Mega-Sena and Lotofácil accounted for 74.8% of all lottery revenue earned by the operator during the quarter. Mega-Sena accounted for 39.8% of all proceeds and saw a yearly increase of 30.3%. The growth was mainly attributed to consecutive rollovers. Drawings numbers 2978 and 2979 were above BRL 123 million in total. Lotofácil generated 35% of the overall income and increased by 2.2%.

Social Transfers Continue to be an Important Pillar

Apart from commercial success, the lottery system continued performing as an important source of funding for the government’s initiatives. From the total amount generated, BRL 3.2 billion was transferred to legally designated beneficiaries.

Funding will help finance federal social projects in such areas as social security, sports, culture, public security, education, and healthcare. As per reports, the transfers represented 53.1% of all lottery revenue generated during the quarter.

All other lottery products, Quina, Lotomania, and +Milionária, produced a total of BRL 1.05 billion between January and March.

Certifications Strengthen Information Security Management

Furthermore, in the first quarter of 2026, CAIXA Loterias also concentrated on boosting its information security management. The operator maintained ISO/IEC 27001 and WLA-SCS certifications. In addition, it received Level 2 certification from the World Lottery Association (WLA), the highest possible level in that particular certification program.

The mentioned certificates apply to draw management, draw results checking, and prize payment procedures. The bank claimed that it further reinforced operational excellence and compliance with international standards.

Finally, the CAIXA continued holding its Level 3 Responsible Gambling certification from the World Lottery Association. The company said that the project aimed at preventing gambling addiction, protecting minors from gambling, and providing relevant guidance concerning gambling treatment and prevention.

Sports Sponsorships Stay Among Priorities

Another point highlighted in the report was the bank’s activities as a payment agent for the federal Bolsa Atleta program. It is currently one of the largest sports sponsorship programs aimed at supporting Olympic and Paralympic athletes. This allows them to focus entirely on training and competitions.

Specifically, the quarterly report emphasized: “We emphasize the importance of social transfers made to sports through lottery bets and our role as the payment agent for Bolsa Atleta.”

In the first quarter of 2026, CAIXA strengthened efforts towards sponsoring team sports and massive sporting events. So, in March, the institution signed a deal with the Liga de Basquete Feminino for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

The bank continued its activities in the sphere of running events throughout the country. For example, CAIXA was among the main sponsors of the Recife Half Marathon and the Circuito das Estações event in Brasilia.

Finally, CAIXA sponsored Team Brazil in 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games cycle.

Increase in Cybersecurity Spending Following the Hacker Attack

In addition to that, CAIXA president Carlos Vieira said that the institution was the victim of massive cyberattacks in July 2025. Specifically, CAIXA lost approximately BRL 20 million as a consequence of such attacks, mostly associated with the CAIXA Tem digital account service.

We had very strong attacks on our systems in July 2025, especially on Caixa Tem accounts. We had about BRL 20 million in losses caused to CAIXA. Currently, we operate with practically zero losses on Caixa Tem accounts, which are accounts used by the whole population“, Vieira said.

Following such a hacker attack, the bank considerably increased spending on cybersecurity and technologies.
