Nursing a host of injuries, the Gunners were at a crossroads.
Fast forward to today, and Arsenal have not only returned to the summit and booked their spot in the Champions League Final, they’ve also welcomed back a host of key players to the squad, most notably Bukayo Saka.
The 24-year-old was sidelined for three weeks with an Achilles tendon injury, but made his return in style against Fulham over the weekend with a goal and an assist, following that up with the decisive goal against Atletico Madrid to send Arsenal through to the Champions League final.

It’s no coincidence that Saka’s return resulted in Arsenal’s attack looking as dangerous as it has for months, swiftly linking up with striker Viktor Gyökeres and causing plenty of chaos down the right side flank.
The 3-0 win over Fulham was their first victory by two or more goals since defeating Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 in the Champions League Round of 16 in March.

«He’s come back in the most important period of the season, and now he’s fresh, his mind is fresh, his hunger is at the highest possible height,» Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said.
«I think he needed a performance like that to impact the team.»
The Gunners resume their tilt for the Premier League title this weekend away at West Ham, before fixtures against Burnley at home and away at Crystal Palace, before the Champions League Final on May 31.
If Arsenal has a chance of lifting both trophies, the form of Bukayo Saka will be a big reason why.
