Angola’s gambling industry delivered another strong month in February 2026, with the Gaming Supervision Institute (ISJ) reporting parafiscal revenue above Kz2.8bn (€3.1m).

The figure represented a 24% increase from January, driven mainly by stronger tax receipts. According to data published by O País, tax revenue from gaming activities rose by 25.3%, outpacing the overall growth rate. Other revenue streams fell slightly, but the surge in tax collections more than compensated for those declines.
The latest results underline the growing role of regulated gambling in Angola’s public finances. ISJ’s oversight has tightened compliance and improved the conversion of gaming activity into state income, reinforcing the sector’s importance as a fiscal contributor.
274% surge in land-based betting
Angola’s gambling market showed strong momentum, with land-based betting leading the way. In the third quarter of 2025, overall gaming revenue climbed 75.1% compared to the previous year, and retail betting alone surged by 274%.
This sharp rise came even as online gaming slipped, highlighting how players are moving toward physical betting channels. That shift has made it easier for regulators to capture taxes, strengthening the ISJ’s role in turning gambling activity into steady public income.
Other areas of revenue did not perform as well. Service-related income dropped by about 19%, and collections from supervision fees also fell. Still, these declines were not enough to offset the gains from tax-driven growth.
February’s results confirm that Angola’s gaming sector remains resilient, with regulated retail betting helping to secure consistent revenue for the state.
