Star Newcastle Knights winger Dom Young could be set for time on the sidelines following an incident in his side’s 44-24 home loss to Manly.

Late in the first half Young was sin binned and placed on report for a hip-drop tackle on Tolu Koula just inches from the Manly try line.
While the desperate tackle saved a try at the time, it looks to have ended Koula’s season with the rep centre forced from the field with a syndesmosis injury. Whether it also ends Young’s season remains to be seen.
Young’s teammate Tyson Frizell was placed on report just before half time for another hip drop tackle on Tom Trbojevic, while Jermaine McEwen could also be in trouble for high tackle.

The Knights trio faces a nervous wait on Sunday morning with the NRL Match Review Committee now set to determine their fates.
With Newcastle having a bye in Round 27, it means anything worse than a one-game suspension for any of the stars will cost them a Week 1 finals appearance.
The disappointing 20-point home loss to Manly effectively ends Newcastle’s top four hopes and leaves their pursuit of a home final in the balance with a formidable away trip in Round 26 against the Warriors in Auckland.
