Now the New Zealand Warriors look set to lose a second member of their backline for the run-in to the NRL finals with Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad facing multiple weeks on the sidelines.

The NRL Match Review Committee has come down hard on the Wahs fullback, slapping him with a Grade 3 dangerous contact charge for his hip drop tackle on Reece Walsh in the 18th minute of the Round 24 clash at Suncorp Stadium.

Walsh suffered an ankle injury in the incident and there are real fears his season could be over, along with his hopes of Kangaroos selection for the end of year World Cup.

Nicoll-Klokstad’s Grade 3 charge carries a two-match suspension with an early guilty plea, rising to three matches should he opt to fight the charge at the NRL Judiciary and lose.

Given there are just three rounds until the NRL finals it would be risky move for the Warriors to go to the judiciary.

It means Taine Tuaupiki will likely come back into Andrew Webster’s starting 13 at fullback for the next fortnight at least with Nicoll-Klokstad missing matches against the Rabbitohs and Knights.

Sitting third on the NRL ladder the Warriors are also sweating on scan results for Dragons-bound halfback Luke Metcalf who suffered a hamstring strain while attempting a shot at goal in the win over the Broncos.
