Argentina Revises Mandatory Warnings for Online Gambling Advertising
The rules for the mandatory warnings in advertising for gambling and online betting have changed in the Argentine national government. Resolution 271/2026, published in the Official Gazette, amends the existing requirements with the sole purpose of reducing the possibility of an overlap of information about the same type of game, but with different messages, and enhancing the clarity of information disclosed to consumers.

The new system allows warnings that are issued by the individual provinces or the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires to meet the national requirements, but to do so, they must meet the technical standards contained in the regulation. These standards include visibility, placement, duration and size.
National and Local Requirements to Be Harmonized
The change is in response to Resolution 446/2025 of the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce (SIC) of the Ministry of Economy, which was issued in November 2025. That rule brought in the required warnings on all forms of advertising: compulsive gambling is harmful to health and +18.
The government noted that already several provinces and Buenos Aires had their own requirements for advertising, which in some cases included warnings about underage gambling and helplines to provide support. Having too many warnings in the same ad might make the entire message harder to understand, leading the federal government to revise the rules.
Technical Requirements Remain in Place
The proposed new system would aim to avoid unnecessary duplication whilst still ensuring that consumers are alerted to the risks associated with gambling. Advertisers will continue to be responsible for making sure that the necessary warning information is clearly visible and understood.
The resolution also sets technical standards on the so-called “safe zones” on screens and minimum display times for digital and audiovisual advertising. These provisions have been put in place to prevent the obfuscation and/or inadequate duration of warnings.

Provinces Can Join the National Framework
Resolution 271/2026 also provides provincial gambling regulators and the autonomous city of Buenos Aires’ gambling regulator with the power to be formally attached to the national framework. The measure came into force after its publication in the Official Gazette on August 6, 2026.
The mechanism could offer more uniformity of the federal and local advertising requirements and give jurisdictions the chance to align existing requirements with the national system. The modifications follow as officials around Argentina debate the best way to present and screen gambling ads in Argentina.
Rosario Considers Broader Restrictions on Public Advertising
The regulations come as part of a parallel effort in Rosario, Santa Fe, where a bill has been introduced that would ban gambling advertising, promotion and sponsorship in public places. Councilor Federico Lifschitz made the proposal and it would apply to the following: casinos, betting platforms, websites, applications and online sports betting services.
Lifschitz criticized the coexistence of prevention campaigns and widespread gambling advertising, stating: “It is absurd for the state to spend millions of pesos on prevention and awareness campaigns about problem gambling while, at the same time, allowing the streets to be covered with betting advertisements.”
The proposal would also include provisions making multiple parties liable in the event of a violation, including advertising companies, advertisers, owners of establishments, vehicles, or advertising space, and anyone who installs or distributes an unauthorized advertisement. The programmes collectively represent a continuing discussion in Argentina concerning commercial activity, consumer protection, and responsible gambling policies.
