Darts icon Van Barneveld returns to form with double qualifying success

Darts legend Raymond van Barneveld completed a European Tour qualification double on Thursday, winning six straight matches to mark a timely return to form.

The Dutch icon was one of only four players to enjoy a faultless campaign in Hildesheim, as qualifiers for European Tour Events 13-14 took place on a sweltering afternoon at Halle 39.

The Flanders Darts Trophy (ET13) will take place in Antwerp from September 11-13, before the latest edition of the Swiss Darts Trophy (ET14) is held in Basel from October 9-11.

Van Barneveld overcame Samuel Price, Andy Boulton and Thomas Lovely to seal his spot in Antwerp, before defeating Arno Merk, Connor Scutt and David Sharp in the ET14 Qualifier.

The five-time World Champion converted 120, 124 and 160 checkouts during his 6-4 success against Scutt, before recovering from 5-4 adrift to sink Sharp in a dramatic finale.

Bradley Brooks (above) also completed a handy double qualification including a fine 6-1 win over 20026 form horse Kim Huybrechts. Jeffrey de Graaf and Cristo Reyes will also be at both events.

Newly crowned Women’s World Matchplay Champion Beau Greaves was among those to reach one of the two events on offer earlier today, In addition to her pair of qualifying successes last month Greave will be looking to reach the Autumn majors and perhaps reach the top 64 on the Order of Merit as swiftly as possible.
