Konami’s Casino Technology Segment Swings Back To Profit As 1Q Revenue Jumps 65%

Konami Group Corp’s gaming and systems division, which includes casino equipment and management systems, returned to profit in the first quarter of its financial year on the back of sharply higher revenue. The segment’s recovery came alongside record group-wide first-quarter results driven primarily by digital entertainment.

Gaming And Systems Revenue Rebounds

For the quarter ended June 30, the company’s revenue in the games and systems segment was nearly JPY12.39 billion, or roughly $75.8 million. This showed an annual growth of 64.9% as compared to JPY7.51 billion for the same quarter of last year.

The division posted a business profit of JPY827 million for the quarter, reversing a loss of JPY166 million recorded in the first quarter of 2025. The gaming and systems arm covers the supply of casino slot machines and casino floor-management systems, and operates outside Japan through Konami Australia Pty Ltd and U.S.-based Konami Gaming Inc.

At a group level, Konami said consolidated revenue and profit across all business categories reached record highs for the first quarter, mainly supported by ongoing strong performance from key titles in its digital entertainment business.

Market Conditions And Product Performance

Konami said new casino openings and replacement demand at existing facilities have created placement opportunities for casino machines, while competitors continue to bring new products to market. Within that environment, the company pointed to specific products that it said contributed to its latest results.

In slot cabinets, Konami highlighted the Solstice 49C from its Solstice series, noting that the product has received strong feedback from the market. In gaming content, the company said its Bomberman series, based on one of Konami’s signature intellectual properties, continued to outperform average casino floor results in the North American market.

In Australia, Konami said the Bull Rush Stampede series has been well received. The company also reported increasing adoption of its Synkros casino management system across casino facilities and on cruise ships operated by Carnival Corp, which it described as one of the world’s largest cruise line companies.

Progress On Japan Casino Supplier Licensing

Konami gave further context on its recent announcement that Konami Gaming was the first gaming equipment manufacturer to submit licence applications to the Japan Casino Regulatory Commission, the agency responsible for overseeing casinos in Japan. Japan will have its first resort casino when the MGM Osaka opens its doors in late 2030.

The firm claims that its business is characterized by a very rich history of being law-abiding, and it has shown its capability of being successful in highly regulated jurisdictions worldwide. According to the firm, it intends to apply the know-how it has accumulated in order to offer top-notch gambling products and services in Japan.

Konami is already active in Japan’s pachinko segment, digital entertainment—including video and mobile games—and sports, giving it an existing base from which to expand into the casino supplier space once the market opens.

Record Group-Wide First-Quarter Results

On the group’s consolidated basis, revenue for the period ending June 30 was JPY129.52 billion, up 33.6% from last year’s quarter. The profit for the same period was reported at JPY32.57 billion, up 64.2%.

The first-quarter figures show that while digital entertainment remains the main driver of Konami’s overall performance, the gaming and systems division has shifted back into growth and profitability. With stronger demand for slot and systems products, expanding use of Synkros, and regulatory progress in Japan, the casino-technology business is now contributing more actively to the group’s results.
