Madden 27 ratings tracker: Updated leaks, list of top NFL players by position in 2026 release

One of the biggest signs that football season is approaching is the release of Madden ratings, and we have finally arrived at that point on the calendar.

Madden 27 is set to feature Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams on the cover, with the game scheduled for release in early August. While there are many features of the video game that typically excite fans, ratings have the broadest appeal among diehards and casuals alike.

Like many ranking systems, Madden ratings provide plenty of debate over which players are overrated, which are underrated and which are just right. It is also interesting to get a sense of where rookies rank entering their first years in the NFL.

Of course, the most interesting group is the 99 Club, as that shows which players Madden believes to be the best in the league. For many players, earning a 99 rating is an accomplishment in and of itself.

Therefore, here’s a look at the best players in Madden 27.

Madden 26 ratings

99 Club

Here are the six players who received the honor of a 99 rating in Madden 27 this year:

• Rams QB Matthew Stafford
• Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase
• Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba
• Cardinals TE Trey McBride
• Rams EDGE Myles Garrett

Bills QB Josh Allen

For the second straight year, Allen is a member of the 99 Club as he enters his ninth season in the NFL. The 2024 NFL MVP had another stellar season in 2025 and is considered by many to be the best player in the entire league.

Allen’s abilities as both a runner and a passer make him an ideal video game player and very deserving of a 99 rating.

Rams QB Matthew Stafford

Stafford had a career-best year in 2025, winning his first NFL MVP award at 37 years old while totaling a league-high 4,707 passing yards and 46 touchdowns. Previously, Stafford had never received a 99 rating at any point in his 17-year career, and he is easily the oldest player among those in the 99 Club.

Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase

Chase is perhaps the best wide receiver in the NFL, as he maintains his spot in the 99 Club for the second season in a row. While Chase’s 2025 season wasn’t as dynamic as his league-leading 2024 year, he still had over 1,400 receiving yards and eight touchdown for a strong Cincinnati offense.

Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba

No player broke out in 2025 quite like Smith-Njigba, who established himself as one of the best receivers in the league. Smith-Njigba led the league with 1,793 receiving yards for the eventual Super Bowl champion Seahawks, earning his spot in the 99 Club.

Cardinals Trey McBride

McBride is the most surprising player on this list, but he certainly deserves it after how he performed in 2025. The Cardinals tight end had 1,239 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in his fourth NFL season, taking the mantle as the best tight end in the league. His 117 catches even set the record for the most by a tight end in a single season.

Rams EDGE Myles Garrett

Garrett is the only 99-rated player to change teams in the offseason, and the only defensive player on the list. The Rams new star EDGE set the NFL record for sacks in a single season last year, and now gives Los Angeles what Madden believes to be two of the six best players in the NFL.
