Pennsylvania Gaming Revenue Hits $7 Billion as Online Gambling Tops Casinos For the First Time

Pennsylvania’s gambling industry has reached a new milestone, with total revenue for Fiscal Year 2025/26 crossing the $7 billion mark.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported that combined gross revenue from slot machines, table games, iGaming, sports wagering, video gaming terminals, and fantasy contests amounted to $7,005,987,435.

The return to the Commonwealth from taxes and fees also set a record at $3,098,193,583. This money supports property tax relief, local development projects, horse racing, and the state’s General Fund. For the first time, online gambling outpaced traditional casino floors.

Online gambling surges past casino floors

The standout performer was iGaming, which generated $2.93 billion in revenue, an 18.42% increase from the previous year. 

Tax contributions from online play reached $1.33 billion, underscoring its importance to state finances. Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course led the way with $1.13 billion, followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort at $811.7 million. 

Other operators such as Rivers Casino Philadelphia, Harrah’s Philadelphia, and Golden Nugget also posted strong gains. While some casinos like Live! Philadelphia and Mount Airy saw declines.

Sports betting hits new highs

Sports betting revenue climbed sharply to $662.9 million, up 35.95% from the previous year, even though the overall betting handle decreased.

Valley Forge Casino Resort led with $272.5 million, while Hollywood Casino at the Meadows nearly doubled its revenue to $189.9 million. Hollywood Casino York saw the biggest jump, rising more than 280% to $41.6 million.

Presque Isle Downs also surged, moving from under $2 million to $22.6 million. Tax revenue from sports wagering reached $238.6 million, marking another record.

Slot machines hold steady, table games slip

Retail slot machines brought in $2.44 billion, nearly unchanged from the previous year. Parx Casino remained the top earner with $375.1 million, though it dipped slightly compared to last year.

Wind Creek Bethlehem and Rivers Casino Pittsburgh also saw small declines, while smaller venues like Parx Shippensburg and Hollywood Casino Morgantown posted growth. Table games, however, fell by 2.15% to $908.9 million. Wind Creek Bethlehem led with $239.9 million, but several casinos, including Rivers Philadelphia and Mohegan Pennsylvania, recorded notable drops. 

Video Gaming Terminals at truck stops contributed $41.6 million, a slight increase from last year, with 75 facilities now operating statewide. 

Fantasy sports contests, however, declined to $18 million, down nearly 6%. DraftKings and FanDuel remained the largest operators, though both reported lower revenues compared to the previous year.
