Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders leave Timothée Chalamet ‘starstruck’ at World Cup

Dune star Timothée Chalamet is usually the one with a massive crowd following him, but things flipped on Tuesday night at the stadium.

The Oscar-nominated actor was in town for the World Cup semifinal between France and Spain, decked out in a France national team jacket in support of his father’s home country. Before kickoff, he crossed paths with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, and the moment turned into a memorable story of the night after France lost the match 2-0, ending their tournament run as Spain advanced to the World Cup final.

Video posted to Instagram by the DCC and the NFL shows Chalamet greeting the squad with hugs and posing for photos. «Yo, nice to meet you guys,» he said in the clip before turning to the camera with a grin. «I’m starstruck.»

The DCC has built a massive following well beyond Sundays this year thanks to Netflix’s «America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders,» which tracks the squad through auditions, training camp, and the grind of the NFL season.

That crossover appeal was obvious in their viral Instagram video, where Chalamet clearly recognized third-year cheerleader Anna Kate Sundvold by name and gave her a warm hug when she waved him over.

Chalamet’s sports fandom has been very much visible in recent times. He was courtside last month when Jalen Brunson won Finals MVP and led the New York Knicks to their historic NBA championship over the Spurs.

But his NFL allegiance remains unclear. Though he’s been photographed in a Las Vegas Raiders jacket in the past, Tuesday’s reaction left little doubt about how he feels regarding Dallas’ cheer squad.

Chalamet’s next big date is coming up fast when Dune: Part Three, the closing chapter of Denis Villeneuve’s trilogy, hits theaters on Dec. 18 and clashes with Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.

Both of the most anticipated movies have been hyping up that date for months, and people online are already comparing it to the whole «Barbenheimer» craze. Chalamet and Robert Downey Jr. even joked that the clash should be called «Dunesday.» Whether it turns into a genuine box-office showdown or splits the theater crowds remains to be seen.
