Hawthorn emerges as favourites for Gold Coast key forward

With the Hawks most likely needing a key forward to straighten up the forward line, exactly who that will be is unknown.
Several names have been floated, and we can’t forget the financial aspect, with the Hawks reportedly set to go back in for Zach Merrett.
So, who could the Hawks look to lure to be their «big» offseason signing?

Well, for reporter Tom Morris, who was on SEN Breakfast, it’s Gold Coast Suns forward Ben King.
“My belief this morning is Ben King is far more likely to want to get to Hawthorn,” Morris said.

“I think there’s a big deal coming for him there.”
How does King get to Hawks?
That is the big question, isn’t it?
Given that the Suns will likely match any offer for King, who is out of contract at the end of the year, the brutal reality of it is that King would walk out the door for nothing if things go south and they don’t get fair value.
So, the best course of action for the Suns is to get what they can for King, obviously without giving him away, and move on.
Morris also reported that Jed Walter will be sticking around for another three years, so the Suns have their key forward of the future, but now all eyes are on King.

And apparently, he has his eyes set on Hawthorn.
