As anticipated, a star-studded France squad has been on a roll to open the 2026 World Cup.
After going 3-0 in group stage action with 10 total goals scored, France handled its business to open the knockout round, besting Sweden 3-0 on Tuesday at MetLife Stadium. Paraguay, which managed to sneak by Germany in an upset in the Round of 32, comes into Saturday’s Independence Day matchup in Philadelphia seeking to make even more noise. It’s been boiling in NYC the last few days but somehow the Philadelphia heat feels even hotter. The air is tight and it feels like sitting directly against a heating unit. Forecast says it will still be around 100 degrees at kick off today for France-Paraguay, even at 5pm.
