The San Antonio Spurs had it all in front of them.
Through 24 minutes of Wednesday’s Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals, Mitch Johnson’s squad couldn’t miss from deep, Victor Wembanyama was physically and mentally draining the Knicks and the Madison Square Garden crowd had little to root for. With a strong second half, San Antonio would have had the Finals tied at 2-2, making it best-of-three.

But the 2025-26 Knicks might just have destiny on their side.
Adding yet another iconic win to their playoff run, the Knicks completed the largest comeback in NBA Finals history, a 29-point turnaround in the second half that was capped by heroics from O.G. Anunoby — first, the star wing blocked a De’Aaron Fox layup. Then, he was in the right spot as time ticked away, putting a Jalen Brunson miss back up and in to give New York the lead.
When Stephon Castle couldn’t get a shot up at the buzzer, it left Madison Square Garden rumbling, celebrating not just a massive comeback — but also New York being on the verge of its first championship in decades. With just one more win, these Knicks will officially go down in history.
Game 4 didn’t have the ingredients of a classic until the fourth quarter, with the Spurs surrendering their huge advantage and all of the series’ momentum. The 2026 Finals are not over, but the Knicks are undoubtedly in the midst of something special.
The Sporting News tracked live scores and highlights from Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals between the Spurs and Knicks. Here’s how New York came all the way back to go up 3-1.

Yes, the Knicks won 107-106 thanks to OG Anunoby’s heroics in the final seconds. You can be forgiven if you went to bed and missed it. Here is the entire final three minutes of the game if so.

Final: Knicks 107, Spurs 106
11:35 p.m. — The New York Knicks. There aren’t many fitting words to describe what they just pulled off at Madison Square Garden, completing the largest comeback in NBA Finals history to go up 3-1 over the Spurs. In the first half, San Antonio was cruising. Now, they’re on the brink of elimination, stunned by Anunoby’s clutch plays.

11:32 p.m. — OG. Anunoby. He might be a new Knicks hero, making a tip-shot off a Brunson miss with 1.2 seconds remaining that gives the Knicks the lead in Game 4. They can go up 3-1 if the Spurs can’t answer.

11:30 p.m. — After all this, the Knicks will have a shot at the game-winner. Brunson misses a shot, but Anunoby comes up huge on the other end with a block on Fox. And with around six seconds left, New York calls timeout, able to win it with a bucket.
11:27 p.m. — Castle makes both free throws, and the Spurs lead. Can the Knicks answer following a timeout with 30.3 seconds left?
11:26 p.m. — De’Aaron Fox misses a shot in the clutch, but Josh Hart fouls Stephon Castle on the put-back attempt. Here comes Castle for massive free throws.
11:24 p.m. — Stephon Castle steps out of bounds. It’s Knicks ball, up one, with under a minute left. The Spurs have been collapsing.
11:23 p.m. — Brunson gives the Knicks the lead with just over a minute remaining, their first of the night!

11:22 p.m. — It’s all-out chaos in the Garden. Josh Hart smokes an easy fastbreak layup, but Wembanyama misses two free throws.
11:20 p.m. — One. Point. Game. The Knicks have come all the way back to threaten stealing Game 4 right back and go up 3-1. Jalen Brunson sinks a three that makes MSG explode.

11:19 p.m. — Fox answers with a crucial 3-pointer to quiet the crowd for a moment, but Jose Alvarado answers to cut the deficit back to five points.
11:16 p.m. — Can the Knicks do this? It’s now a four-point game after an OG Anunoby three. The Knicks have never looked in this game, yet they have a chance to go up 3-1 with a strong finish. A comeback would certainly go down in NBA Finals history.

11:12 p.m. — This game isn’t quite over yet. It’s an 11-point game after another Knicks run, with Towns capping it with a tough shot over Wembanyama at the rim. The crowd is into it, but the Spurs still have a clear path to victory.

11:05 p.m. — A Mikal Bridges layup leads to a Spurs timeout, but it’s still a 15-point advantage for San Antonio. Under nine minutes remain for New York to make a run.
End of third quarter: Spurs 90, Knicks 75
10:52 p.m. — The Knicks were far more competitive in the third quarter than the first two, but they still face a double-digit deficit heading into the fourth.
10:50 p.m. — The rookie is having yet another terrific playoff performance.

10:41 p.m. — The Spurs have halted the Knicks’ momentum, but at the very least, this game is within range if New York can go on another big run. Jalen Brunson gets a floater after the whistle to fall for an impressive and-one, with the Knicks owning a 10-point advantage in the third quarter.
10:34 p.m. — It’s a 10-0 Knicks run, and they now trail by 19.

10:28 p.m. — The Wembanyama flagrant won’t matter in the grand scheme of this game, most likely, with the Spurs now up by 22 around four minutes into the second half. Could the Knicks have a historic comeback in the cards?
10:25 p.m. — Wembanyama receives a Flagrant 1 for elbowing Towns, meaning he is now one flagrant away from a suspension. Notably, he had a no-call shove on Brunson in Game 3 that, had it been called a flagrant, would have now called for a suspension.
Instead, he’ll have to play extra carefully for the rest of the Finals to avoid a suspension.

Halftime: Spurs 76, Knicks 49
10:00 p.m. — It’s a 27-point Spurs lead at halftime. Barring a historic comeback, this series will be heading back to San Antonio all tied up; the Spurs can’t miss tonight.

9:52 p.m. — Vassell has 15 points, Wembanyama has 14, Fox has 13 and Harper has 10. San Antonio has cleared the 70-point mark with three minutes left in the first have, dominating offensively.
9:42 p.m. — San Antonio can’t be stopped right now.

9:35 p.m. — Crazier things have happened with a lot of time left, but the Spurs are in an excellent spot to force up to a Game 6. They can’t miss from deep, up to 11 3-pointers as a team, and their lead has expanded to 25 points. Per ESPN, the Spurs’ 19-point lead after the first quarter was the largest by a road team in Finals history.

9:21 p.m. — Things are not going well for the home crowd after one quarter. It was all Spurs in the first, draining six threes on top of Wembanyama’s 13 points and drawn flagrant on Robinson that stole some energy from Madison Square Garden. He continues to play the villain role well.

9:17 p.m. — Wembanyama, who already has 11 points, draws an offensive foul on Robinson that is reviewed, then confirmed as a flagrant. Wembanyama pointed at his head afterward in a «in their head» kind of motion, and it’s hard to argue with that right now, with the Knicks having no momentum at home.

9:08 p.m. — Towns checks back in for Mitchell Robinson, who misses two free throws. San Antonio’s 15-point advantage is the largest by either team in the Finals so far.
9:04 p.m. — Wembanyama drains a 3-pointer to extend the Spurs lead to 13 points. New York has started to find a rhythm, but the Knicks face an early deficit.
