Proactive Player Safeguards

Erick Su, head of ArenaPlus, DigiPlus’ premium sports betting platform, said gaming and gambling operators have a duty to ensure that users of their services are responsible players, in line with PAGCOR policies. According to Su, DigiPlus is being more proactive through the provision of software that enables players to set their own limits and opt for self-exclusion as the situation may require.

Su pointed out that DigiPlus is also coming up with a program that utilizes technology in identifying problem gambling by analyzing player behavior. He said the aim is to move beyond relying on players to voluntarily set limits for themselves and instead analyze player activity more actively.

Responsible Gambling Month Activities

According to Su, DigiPlus is collaborating with the government and other key players in relation to gambling month activities slated for August. He added that the initiative was designed to sensitize gamblers on what they are letting themselves into by engaging in gambling activities.

It was also noted that there is an urgent need to educate the gamblers on how to enlighten themselves. The company’s approach, according to Su, combines player controls, awareness efforts, and cooperation with regulators and other partners.

Leadership Change At DigiPlus

In a separate disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, DigiPlus said its board of directors has named Ping Chen as the company’s new president following the annual stockholders’ meeting on Friday. Chen succeeds Andy Tsui, who served as president and director over the past 4 years.

The company said Chen has held various positions in publicly listed technology and services conglomerates across Asia. The appointment adds a new leadership change to DigiPlus as it continues to expand its role in the regulated digital gaming sector.
