Access Macau Launches as New Market Entry Unit for the SAR

O MEDIA, part of Complete Media Group, has launched Access Macau, a new business division designed to provide direct, practical support to international companies seeking to enter the Macau SAR market. The new unit was introduced on Friday at a special luncheon at Artyzen Grand Lapa, where 28 invited guests gathered with representatives from the local gaming, tourism, legal, and hospitality sectors.

The gathering had key representatives from all 6 concessionaires present, alongside business representatives of Macao and the authorities. The guests included the likes of Dr. Cheng Wai Tong from the Macao Government Tourism Office, and senior executives from the Galaxy Entertainment Group, City of Dreams, MGM China, Sands China, SJM Resorts, and Wynn Macau.

New Business Platform

Access Macau was created in response to the US$16.3 billion in non-gaming investment contractually committed by Macau’s concessionaires during their current 10-year concession period, from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2032. That spending works out to about US$31 million a week and is intended to support projects across entertainment, events, tourism, technology, wellness, and other sectors.

The launch comes at a time when Macau is offering a clearer opening for international companies that want to work with the city’s 6 integrated resort operators. At the same time, the wider market has also attracted a growing number of companies and individuals from outside Macau, many of whom are looking to enter the city with different business concepts. According to the new unit, not all of those ideas are suitable for the market.

Access Macau is aimed at helping businesses understand whether their opportunity is real, where it fits and where it does not. The unit is also intended to help companies adjust their approach before moving further into the market. That includes guidance on what may need to change in order to make a project viable in Macau’s business environment.

Market Access Support

The division claims to offer practical help drawn from several years of working experience in gaming, hospitality, and governmental operations. O MEDIA claimed that their media, events, and advisory platforms enable them to be able to exercise their convening power and curatorial authority, whereas the multicultural approach allows them to blend Eastern and Western business models.

That role also includes filtering out companies and ideas that are not suited to Macau. The business is designed not only to introduce market entrants to local stakeholders, but also to give them a clearer view of the market conditions they would face. Access Macau will also help with operational execution and connections to the right stakeholders, with the aim of supporting actual in-market outcomes.

The launch reflects a broader effort to align incoming business interest with Macau’s economic diversification agenda. As the city continues to expand beyond gaming, the new division is positioned as a support service for firms that want to participate in that shift without losing sight of the local market’s specific requirements.

Industry Support

At the luncheon, Galaxy Entertainment Group COO for Macau Kevin Kelley said the SAR is clearly seeking diversification and that any platform helping to channel that effort would be welcome. He congratulated Andrew and the team on the launch and said the company wished the new business unit success, adding that it looked forward to helping facilitate Access Macau’s growth.

O MEDIA vice chairman and chief executive Andrew W Scott said the unit had been in development for some time. He said Access Macau is intended to support the Macau SAR government’s economic diversification objectives while helping companies navigate the unique ways of doing business in Macau. He added that the goal is to lead firms toward successful commercial outcomes.

The launch gives O MEDIA a new business line focused on market entry support at a time when Macau’s diversification push continues to create both opportunity and complexity for outside firms. Access Macau now sits within that wider effort as a dedicated platform for companies seeking a clearer route into the city.
