The AFL have stated there is no end date in sight for the investigation into the incident, which occurred nearly two weeks ago in Carlton’s loss to Collingwood.

In a press conference last week, Blues boss Michael Voss claimed his staff has been ‘bullied for outcomes’ in the aftermath of Hollands’ episode.

It has now emerged Chamberlain has stepped away from the game prior to last weekend and has reached out to legal services with the investigation scrutinising the role of club medicos, according to journalist Tom Morris.

“I can reveal tonight that their club doctor, a very respected medical professional, Dr Matt Chamberlain, took leave on the weekend, personal leave, as a result of this saga,” he reported on The Agenda Setters.

“I’ve spoken to the Blues. They couldn’t confirm that he’d be even back this weekend for Carlton’s game. They hope he’s back as soon as possible, but they couldn’t confirm that as well.

“Now, in addition to that, I also understand that Chamberlain is considering his legal options should the AFL investigation come back in a way that dissatisfies him or potentially paints him in a light that he thinks is unfair.”

During an edgy press conference on before last week’s Fremantle game, Voss suggested the ‘ball-by-ball’ analysis of Hollands’ mental health episode had seen the Blues attacked unnecessarily.

At one stage, Voss even cut a journalist off as he spoke passionately about the complexity of the situation — with Hollands being checked into hospital earlier this week.

«The commentary, the conversation, the ball-by-ball play, we’ve unfortunately made it that,» Voss said.

«And in some ways – I’ll be really honest – it’s felt like bordering on bullying.»

Carlton have a 1-6 record for the season and will try to turn their campaign around against St Kilda at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.
