One of the NBA’s most notable romances is dead, and it didn’t appear to end amicably.
Rapper and actress Megan Thee Stallion announced Saturday that her relationship with NBA sharpshooter Klay Thompson was over, calling out the Mavericks guard in the process.
The two were first spotted together in July of 2025 and all but confirmed their relationship the following month. The happy times didn’t last as long as they hoped, and Megan Thee Stallion has since sounded off about it.

The rapper and actress wiped away tears as the Broadway crowd cheered for her, and those cheers appeared to get louder when fans realized she was crying. Megan Thee Stallion plays Harold Zidler, a nightclub owner, with her role in the Broadway hit continuing through May 17.

Saturday’s performance helped her remove some of the focus from the disappointing end to her relationship, but her announcement on Saturday indicated she still has an axe to grind with Thompson. Here’s what Megan Thee Stallion had to say.
Why did Klay Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion break up?
Megan Thee Stallion accused Thompson of cheating on her, telling TMZ that her trust was «compromised» by the Mavericks guard.
«I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward. I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity,» she said in a statement.
On Instagram, Megan Thee Stallion was a bit more upfront.
«Holding you down through all your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous,'» she said in a story posted on Saturday.

The relationship between Thompson and Megan Thee Stallion lasted about nine months since the public first learned about the romance. The two had since become mainstays together on social media, with Megan Thee Stallion saying in January that she was «overly comfortable» being with Thompson, but they didn’t get the ending they were hoping.
