Collingwood has been a club that has been really active this offseason, already securing Lachie Neale and Jesse Hogan, as Craig McRae’s team has some reinforcements coming in.

But we haven’t heard much about who could be leaving this offseason.
We know about Scott Pendlebury and Steele Sidebottom, but another name has popped up recently, and that’s Jordan De Goey.
Having a contract only until the end of 2027, his future is a big question mark.

But for Pies list boss Justin Leppitsch, the club is open for business on most players, but he stated he hopes De Goey is with the club next year.
“We hope (he’s on our list). You always want to sit here and say: ‘He’s not going anywhere’, or anything like that,” Leppitsch said via Fox Sports. “But, we’ve also got to be open for business as well at this time of the year. Obviously, there’s always one or two players (that aren’t) — I could probably sit here safely and say Nick Daicos isn’t going anywhere.
“We’ve had really mature conversations with Jordy and (his manager) Ryan (Vague). Jordy is really after finishing his career, getting that last contract and probably go into the next phase of his life.
“So, he’s very much looking at it from a business perspective and we’re the same. At this point in time nothing will happen, there’s no movement and no options for either party. We’re expecting him to be with us next year.»

Should Pies entertain move for De Goey?
Well, you could argue that his value right now is at the highest it will ever be, as he only has a year left on his deal.
But going by Justin Leppitsch’s words, the Pies clearly want Jordan to stay, but how that looks is unknown, and if a club comes in with an offer Collingwood can’t refuse, then things will get interesting.
Right now, it’s clear he’s a required player, but at the same time the Pies know that nothing is off the table with their list, aside from a few players.
So that makes the next couple of days really interesting for Collingwood and how their list shapes up for 2027.
