Justin Holbrook may have guided last year’s wooden spooners to the NRL Grand Final in the space of 12 months.

Here’s just a small taste of the reaction on social media:

“How the f— didn’t Justin Holbrook get coach of the year taking team from spoon to Grand final?”

“How the hell does Holbrook not get the coach of the year… he took the Knights from spooners to Grand Finalists?”

“I’m sorry andrew webster but HOLBROOK WAS ROBBED!”

“Wooden spoon to GF yet a coach of a team who went out in straight sets gets coach of the Yr.”

“I love Webster and everything he’s done for NZ, but Holbrook has been absolutely dudded. Wooden spoon to a Grand final. What the f—?”

“Holbrook doesn’t win coach of the year? Cancel the awards for good.”

Unfortunately NRL Coach of the Year voting is based on the regular season only, and not finals.

Plenty will argue Holbrook still deserved to win the gong, and they may well be right.

Either way, surely every Knights fan, player and Holbrook himself won’t care in the slightest if their team can beat the Roosters on Sunday night at Accor Stadium.

YOUR #DALLYM NRL COACH OF THE YEAR! 👏
