Joe Buck is one of the most recognizable names in sports media, and he isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The 57-year-old is set to sign a new extension to remain with ESPN for the next six years, keeping him as one of the voices of the NFL schedule. Buck is currently in his fifth year with ESPN, the final year of his deal, and is set to call the Super Bowl once again when ABC and ESPN get the game in February of 2027.

When Buck moved from Fox to ESPN, he largely pivoted his focus solely to football as he took over «Monday Night Football» with his longtime partner, Troy Aikman. As a result, «Monday Night Football» has regained prestige from decades ago, giving ABC and ESPN the ability to land a Super Bowl broadcast.

Here’s the latest on Joe Buck’s new deal with ESPN.

Joe Buck ESPN extension

Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reports that ESPN has signed Joe Buck to a six-year, $108 million extension that begins after this NFL season and keeps the broadcaster as the voice of «Monday Night Football» for the foreseeable future.

Buck left Fox to join ESPN in 2022, along with his partner Troy Aikman, to focus solely on «Monday Night Football» broadcasts. Buck had been with Fox from 1994 to 2021, broadcasting both NFL and MLB games, but ESPN gave him a lucrative deal to elevate its football broadcasts.

Over the past few years, Buck has called a select number of MLB games for ESPN, but he was not a regular on those broadcasts even before the network lost «Sunday Night Baseball» to NBC. Marchand does report that ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro would like the network to get World Series broadcasts in the future, and he would like Buck to be the one to call those games, but that isn’t part of this extension.

Buck’s previous deal was for five years and $75 million, according to Marchand, so he gets a notable raise in his new deal. Not only will he make $3 million more per season, but Buck also gets an extra year on his new contract.

While Buck is locked up moving forward, Aikman’s contract is still set to expire after the season. So, it’s possible Buck has a new partner when this extension begins in 2027.

ESPN Super Bowl broadcasts

ABC and ESPN are set to broadcast Super Bowl 61 in February, marking the first-ever ESPN Super Bowl and teh first ABC Super Bowl since February of 2006. Back then, Al Michaels and John Madden called the game for ABC before they moved together to NBC, similar to Buck and Aikman’s move together.

Buck’s extension means he will also be on the call when ABC and ESPN broadcast Super Bowl 65 in February of 2031, the next and only other Super Bowl on ABC and ESPN’s schedule. Buck also called six Super Bowls while working with Fox.
