Now that he is no longer in charge of the club, having departed this past summer to take time off from football management, there were questions about whether he would change his tune as the club was found guilty of nearly all charges by the Premier League this past week.
Guardiola had previously promised that he would only back the club so long as they had firm ground to stand on, and with that ground crumbling underneath the weight of the charges, many wondered if he would continue to go down with the ship or jump off.
The 55-year-old has finally spoken out after the Premier League’s damning verdict was released, and he has remained steadfast in his support for his previous employers.

What has Pep Guardiola said in the past about Man City charges?
The firm backing from Pep Guardiola behind Man City against the Premier League’s charges is keeping in the same tone as his previous comments on the situation while in charge of the club, but it’s also in direct contrast to statements he’s made before about a potential guilty verdict.
Guardiola has previously said that if the club turned out to be incorrect about their stance on the Premier League charges, that he would reverse course.
In a press conference on May of 2022, Guardiola told the press, «I said to them [Man City executives], ‘If you lie to me, the day after I am not here. I will be out and I will not be your friend any more. I put my faith in you because I believe you 100% from day one and I defend the club because of that.'»
However, with the evidence against the club mounting and the situation looking more and more bleak, Guardiola has yet to change his tune and remains firmly behind his old employers.
