Team World prevailed 15-9 in San Francisco in 2025, the first tournament for new team captains Yannick Noah (Europe) and Andre Agassi (World).

Noah and Agassi are back for the 2026 edition, having replaced Bjorn Borg and John McEnroe the last time around.

Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz lead the cast of stars involved. Here’s what their schedule will look like and how they must collect points on the path to victory.

Laver Cup format

The 2026 Laver Cup will be contested over 12 matches — nine singles and three doubles — maintaining the traditional format that has been in place since the competition’s inception.

On the first two days, three singles rubbers will precede a concluding doubles encounter. On the final day, the doubles gets the action underway before the three singles showdowns.

The winning team will be the first to reach 13 points. If the scores are level after the 12 rubbers, a deciding «overtime doubles» match will be played as a single set with a tiebreak if required.

Once a team reaches 13 points, no further matches are played, meaning no dead rubbers. If there is only one match required in Sunday’s play, fans will be treated to an exhibition.

Both singles and doubles matches are best of three sets with ad scoring. If a third set is needed, a 10-point tiebreaker decides the match.

How are points scored in the Laver Cup?

A weighted points-scoring system means the action is guaranteed to run until Sunday.

• Day 1: Each match is worth one point
• Day 2: Each match is worth two points
• Day 3: Each match is worth three points

As such, even if a team is swept over the first two days, the maximum lead possible is 12-0. Twice, in Europe’s 2021 success and Team World’s dominant triumph in 2023, the action has been wrapped up by the Sunday doubles.

However, 2025 was the fourth time in eight editions that the event has gone all the way to the deciding singles match. If Zverev had managed to beat Fritz, instead of losing in straight sets, then the teams would have been level at 12-12. It’s the closest we’ve come to overtime doubles being required in the Laver Cup.
