Bowling his first over against Queensland at Allan Border Field, the Victorian all-rounder sent down a juicy full toss to Marnus Labuschagne who smashed the ball straight back down the wicket.

Short stuck out his right hand in a reflex action and the ball stuck, much to the surprise of everyone — Short included — and to the relief of the umpire who was ducking for cover in self preservation.

A stunned Labuschagne was on his way for 42, but it proved a minor speed bump for the Queenslanders with the Bulls amassing 7-335 from their 50 overs.

Unfortunately for 30-year-old Short the catch would be the highlight of his day.

The former Australian ODI and T20 star dismissed for just 8 runs after opening the batting in the Victorian run chase which had slumped to 5-84 in the 17th over.
