Parramatta star Josh Addo-Carr is facing an uncertain future after reportedly testing positive for cocaine in another major off-field blow for the former NSW and Australian winger.

CODE Sports reports Addo-Carr returned the positive result after being pulled over by police for a random roadside drug test on Friday night, with the NRL Integrity Unit informed of the incident.

The development is particularly significant given it is the second time Addo-Carr has returned a positive roadside drug test for cocaine, with the previous incident occurring while he was playing for Canterbury in 2024.

On that occasion, NSW Police issued Addo-Carr with a penalty notice for the presence of a prescribed illicit drug while driving, while the NRL subsequently issued him with a breach notice alleging he had breached the game’s Code of Conduct.

Parramatta has now released a statement confirming it is aware of an alleged incident involving Addo-Carr and is cooperating with the relevant processes.

“The club has notified the NRL Integrity Unit and is cooperating with the appropriate processes, as well as providing welfare support to Josh and his family,” the Eels said.

The Eels have made it clear they will not comment further until the matter has been investigated by the relevant authorities and the Integrity Unit, but it is another headline the club would surely have preferred to avoid following a disappointing season.

Addo-Carr ultimately departed the Bulldogs following the 2024 season before being handed an opportunity to rebuild his career at Parramatta, where he has spent the past two years.

The 31-year-old played 23 games for the Eels in 2026 and scored eight tries, but the latest incident now creates renewed uncertainty over his future at the club.

Given the circumstances surrounding Addo-Carr’s previous incident and the opportunity Parramatta provided him following his Canterbury exit, the latest development looms as a potentially significant moment in the veteran winger’s career.
