The world’s best sprinter Ka Ying Rising has sent a breathtaking warning to rivals eyeing off a share of the $20 million prize money in this year’s Everest at Royal Randwick next month.

The Hong Kong based gelding toyed with rivals in Sunday’s Group 3 Chief Executive’s Cup at Sha Tin Racecourse, extending his winning streak to 21 consecutive victories — including nine at Group 1 level.

Ominously, Ka Ying Rising also smashed his own 1200-metre track record at Sha Tin by nearly a full second.

Trained by Australia’s David Hayes the superstar won the 2025 Everest and it seems he will now return to defend his title in even better shape than last year.

“Look out Sydney, he’s coming back!” Sha Tin race caller Mark McNamara gushed as Ka Ying Rising simply strode away from his rivals under hands and heels riding by Aussie jockey Zac Purton to win by almost eight lengths.

After the race Purton suggested the best was yet to come.

“I’m sure he’s going to pull up better for the run,” he said in bad news for Australia’s top sprinters.

Ka Ying Rising won the 2025 Everest by 1.15 lengths, taking home a cool $7 million for connections and currently boasts staggering career prize money of approximately AU$28 million.

The Everest 2026 will be held on Saturday, 17th October 2026 at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney.
