The Brisbane Broncos have continued their recruitment drive by signing promising Newcastle outside back Wilson De Courcey on a two-year deal according to reports at CODE Sports.

The 20-year-old will leave the Knights at the end of the season and join Brisbane through to the end of 2028 after opting for a fresh opportunity at Red Hill.

De Courcey has made two NRL appearances this season after making his first-grade debut against Canberra in Round 5, but has built an impressive record in the NSW Cup.

The powerful centre or winger has scored 33 tries in 35 reserve-grade appearances across the past two seasons, establishing himself as one of Newcastle’s most promising outside backs.

His arrival will provide additional depth for a Broncos backline losing Jesse Arthars to Catalans Dragons and Gehamat Shibasaki to the Perth Bears at the end of the season.

De Courcey becomes the second player Brisbane has recruited from Newcastle in recent months, following former Queensland representative Dane Gagai’s decision to return to the Broncos for 2027.

The Broncos have been extremely active in the player market, with Mitch Barnett, Shawn Blore and Jonah Pezet also among the players set to arrive at Red Hill next season.

De Courcey will now look to turn his prolific NSW Cup form into a regular first-grade opportunity when he begins the next chapter of his career with Brisbane in 2027.
