It has been revealed Braith Anasta will give give up his accreditation as an NRL player agent to focus purely on his media career with Fox League and NRL 360.

According to reports in The Daily Telegraph, Anasta will become the first high-profile NRL figure to make changes due to the increased scrutiny being given to conflicts of interest within the NRL media landscape, including the introduction of a ‘media cop’.

He is unlikely to be the last.

Previously responsible for players including Cameron Munster, Lachlan Ilias, Jonah Pezet, Jesse Southwell and incoming PNG Chiefs coach Willie Peters, Anasta will hand the reins over to his business partner at Searoo Sports Management, Justin Caines.

“I want to focus entirely on my hosting with Fox because it’s become a bit difficult to navigate,” Anasta told the Daily Telegraph.

Anasta has drawn criticism at times for potential on-air conflicts in his role as host of NRL 360 and his move will no doubt be welcomed by many in the game.

However it increases the pressure on other high-profile NRL media figures to now declare their own intentions.

Top of that list is Phil Gould who continues to controversially balance his role as Canterbury Bulldogs football boss with his ongoing media commitments for Channel 9.

Others set to come under heightened scrutiny could include Anasta’s Fox League colleagues Gorden Tallis and Matthew Johns who are part-owners of the Gold Coast Titans and Gould’s Channel 9 colleague James Bracey who is a Board Director of the Perth Bears.
