The incident came in the 12th minute of the Round 26 match-up at Go Media Stadium in Auckland with Newcastle leading the Warriors 10-0.

“Oh, send off,” Michael Ennis said immediately in commentary on Fox League.

“You love his aggression but he just gets it wrong, and when you come out of the line you can’t get it wrong… and he’s going for the game.”

And he was.

With Wahs fans baying for blood referee Adam Gee had no hesitation in pointing to the stands with replays showing the high contact from Saifiti’s shoulder was every bit as bad as it appeared live.

“Direct and very forceful contact with the shoulder, on report… off,” Gee told the Knights veteran.

A dazed Luke Laulilii followed Saifiti from the field shortly after but was able to return.

Saifiti will head straight to the NRL judiciary and faces an uncertain future with the Knights having a Round 27 bye before the NRL finals begin.
