Over the last few months, each squad has shaken its roster up, entertaining positional battles and welcoming in some fresh faces through free agency and the draft. But the time for roster debates is no longer; the official roster cut-down mark arrives Sunday at 6 p.m. ET.

By that point, every team must have its 90-man offseason roster trimmed down to 53 players for the regular season. Additionally, each club can carry up to 17 practice squad members (with one being an international player), a likely outcome for most of the notable roster cuts.

The Sporting News is tracking some of the notable roster cuts for each team below. Follow along with the latest names who did not crack the list of 53 players on each squad.

MORE: Everything to know about NFL practice squad salaries

When are NFL roster cuts 2026?

      53-man roster deadline

      • Date: Sunday, Aug. 30
      • Time: 6 p.m. ET

NFL teams must cut their rosters to 53 players by 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 30 — a slight new twist in the rules for 2026. Typically NFL cut-down day is the Tuesday following the final preseason game, so teams have less time to make roster decisions this year.

Teams are permitted to keep up to 90 players during training camp and preseason games, allowing for deep rosters and heavy evaluation.

In addition to the 53-man roster, teams can carry a practice squad that features up to 16 players. To be practice-squad eligible, players must meet certain qualifications.
