Kalshi Lands Five MLB Sponsorships as Sports Contracts Face Regulatory Battles
Kalshi is putting its name inside some of Major League Baseball’s biggest ballparks while fighting a growing legal battle over whether its sports contracts amount to gambling.
The prediction-market company has secured sponsorship agreements with the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants and San Diego Padres. The arrangements include stadium signage, branding inside and outside venues, digital promotions and, for some clubs, offers aimed at their supporters.
The timing is notable. Kalshi is trying to make prediction markets part of the ordinary sports experience at the same time that regulators, gaming operators and tribal authorities are challenging its right to offer contracts tied to sporting results.
Some of the partnerships surfaced before Kalshi formally confirmed all five. Branding for the company had appeared on digital outfield displays and behind home plate at Dodger Stadium. The Red Sox also used Kalshi branding in social media material and promoted the platform to its marketing subscribers.
For Kalshi, baseball is more than another advertising channel. The company has been steadily moving into professional sports and major sporting events as it seeks to build mainstream recognition for its prediction-market model. It previously announced a World Cup-related partnership through ADI Predictstreet and is also discussing a possible league-wide relationship with MLB.
That expansion is happening against an unsettled legal backdrop.
The fight over sports contracts
Kalshi’s position is that its event contracts are financial products overseen at the federal level by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, rather than conventional sports bets that require state gambling licences.
Several state authorities and gaming interests reject that distinction. They view contracts based on sporting outcomes as functionally equivalent to sports wagers and argue that Kalshi cannot bypass state gambling laws by placing the products within the federal financial regulatory framework.
The dispute has already reached the courts in states where some of Kalshi’s new baseball partners operate.

Massachusetts has been one of the clearest battlegrounds. Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell sued Kalshi in 2025, claiming the company was offering sports wagering without the required state licence. A ruling in January permitted state authorities to prevent access to Kalshi’s sports markets. The dispute is now before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.
California presents another front. Blue Lake Rancheria, Chicken Ranch Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians and Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians have brought a federal lawsuit against Kalshi. The Indian Gaming Association has also pushed Congress to impose restrictions on the company’s sports contracts.
Kalshi’s access to sports markets has already been limited in a number of states, including Massachusetts, Nevada, Michigan and Washington.
Yet its commercial strategy continues to move in the opposite direction.
The five MLB agreements give the company visibility where sports fans already gather, turning prediction markets into part of the stadium environment rather than leaving them as a product encountered only through an app.
That creates an unusual split for Kalshi. Its brand is gaining space alongside established professional sports teams while the legal status of the very contracts it promotes remains contested.
A league-level MLB agreement would take that strategy further, but the existing state disputes show why such an expansion could carry regulatory consequences well beyond advertising.
