Formula 1 completed its first weekend back after the break at the Dutch Grand Prix. Saturday delivered plenty of excitement with the sprint race and then qualifying, in which Lando Norris (McLaren) secured pole position.

Norris, despite some difficulties, won Sunday’s Dutch Grand Prix and managed to earn 25 points in Zandvoort.

The stands, which were almost entirely behind hometown favorite Max Verstappen, did not leave with smiles on their faces, as the Red Bull star made an early exit. The Dutchman lost control at the end of the first lap and crashed into the barriers, ending his chances. Liam Lawson, his temporary teammate due to Isack Hadjar’s absence, finished seventh.

With the victory, Norris closes the gap in the World Championship and moves closer to Kimi Antonelli. Although the Italian, who finished second, still holds a significant advantage, McLaren’s strong performance suggests that the end of the 2026 season could be thrilling.

A clean start with no accidents: Lando Norris held onto the lead, while Kimi Antonelli took second place from George Russell. Max Verstappen lost control at the end of the first lap and crashed his Red Bull into the wall. The session was stopped with a red flag. The driver is OK.

At the restart, again from a standing start, Antonelli showed his talent and overtook Lando to take the lead. Oscar Piastri passed Russell to move into third. Six of the 72 total laps have been completed.

Franco Colapinto received a penalty for passing Yuki Tsunoda during a yellow flag, and he was forced to serve a drive-through penalty, dropping him to last place. Arvid Lindblad received the same penalty. There were no changes at the front: Antonelli, followed by Norris and Piastri.

A slow pit stop hurts Piastri: The Australian lost his position on track to George Russell, who is now provisionally in third. It is worth noting that not all of the cars have made their pit stops yet.

After 31 laps, there are no changes at the front: Antonelli, Norris and Russell. Lando is less than one second behind the Italian, who is handling the pressure well.

Piastri’s car is losing performance, and he has been passed by Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. The Australian is now sixth, ahead of Liam Lawson.

With Hamilton still awaiting another pit stop, the running order with 22 laps remaining is Lewis Hamilton, Antonelli, Norris, Russell, Leclerc and Piastri.

A major turning point at Zandvoort: Norris passes Antonelli to take the lead. Esteban Ocon retires, and Ferrari makes a double pit stop. Haas ends the day with neither of its cars remaining on track.

Fernando Alonso, putting together an impressive drive, is hoping to score points. The Aston Martin driver is running ninth, with a comfortable gap over Yuki Tsunoda in 11th.

Russell gets a break: Just as Hamilton was closing in to pass him, a virtual safety car was deployed. The reason? The two Williams cars made contact with each other, leaving debris from their cars on the track.

Dutch Grand Prix finish: Norris takes the win. Antonelli and Russell completed the podium at Zandvoort.
