Jake Stringer has confirmed Saturday night’s game against the Crows will more than likely be his last for the Giants.

Across two years, he has played 37 games and kicked 77 goals in orange since crossing from Essendon. 

Stringer fronted the media earlier this morning to talk about his future in the AFL.

«I think the timing’s right for me and the club (to head back to Melbourne),» Stringer said.

With links to several clubs, it appears Stringer’s most likely destination is Collingwood, with AFL.com’s Gettable suggesting as much. 

«Collingwood is having a look,» AFL Media’s Callum Twomey said. 

«He definitely won’t be at GWS next year,» Twomey’s co-host, Riley Beveridge, remarked.

Stringer would add another powerful forward option to a Magpies side that already has a dangerous attack.  

However, how he is best utilised will be a complex question for Collingwood coach Craig McRae. 

Stringer played every game this year for the Giants, and has proven across 2026 that he can still impact at the highest level.  

He kicked a bag of seven against the premiership favourites, Fremantle in Round 17, while twice ending the day with a handful — against top four hopefuls Hawthorn, and the reigning premiers, Brisbane.  

After already playing at three clubs, the next stage of Stringer’s career will have to take place at a fourth. 

The question is now where Stringer plays next, with the black and white emerging as the early favourites.
